ABOUT US
HOSPICE SUPPORT of FAUQUIER
COUNTY was founded in 1981 as a nonprofit, volunteer organization
providing non-medical, supportive care to terminally ill patients and
their families.
HOSPICE is a concept of
compassionate care which places priority on the patient’s dignity,
comfort and quality of life. Hospice Support volunteers receive 30 hours
of intensive training in order to meet the emotional, spiritual and
practical needs of the patient.
If a patient requires skilled
medical care, an appropriate referral is made. Hospice Support works
collaboratively, as requested, with attending physicians, medical
hospices, clergy and other support agencies in order to provide a
continuum of patient care.
The Hospice Support team’s
holistic approach seeks to empower families in the care of their loved
ones at home. However, Hospice Support also serves patients in assisted
living facilities, nursing homes and hospitals.

HOW
YOU CAN HELP
If you are interested in
volunteering, Hospice Support offers many rewarding opportunities. Some
volunteers work directly with patients and their families. Other
volunteers assist with the loan closet or help the administrative staff
with office duties such as mailings.
All of our Hospice Support
volunteer teams begin with a group training program which includes
explanation of hospice values, information on death and dying, family
dynamics, listening and communication skills, patient care and
bereavement support.
All of Hospice Support
services are offered to the community at no cost. We are funded solely
by donations and grants. We receive no medical or other reimbursements.
If you would like to make a
tax deductible gift, you may send a check payable to: Hospice
Support of Fauquier County, or come by our office in person. We would be
happy to meet with you to discuss our services.

ELIGIBILITY FOR HOSPICE SERVICES
To receive services from
Hospice Support, the patient must be a resident of Fauquier County who
is facing a limited life expectancy as measured in months rather than
years.
Anyone may make a referral to
Hospice Support – a medical or other professional, family members, a
friend or the patient. There is no need for health insurance or any
other payment.
