About UsHOSPICE SUPPORT of FAUQUIER COUNTY was founded in 1981 as a nonprofit, volunteer organization providing non-medical, supportive care to terminally ill patients and their families. HOSPICE is a concept of compassionate care which places priority on the patient’s dignity, comfort and quality of life. Hospice Support volunteers receive 30 hours of intensive training in order to meet the emotional, spiritual and practical needs of the patient. If a patient requires skilled medical care, an appropriate referral is made. Hospice Support works collaboratively, as requested, with attending physicians, medical hospices, clergy and other support agencies in order to provide a continuum of patient care. The Hospice Support team’s holistic approach seeks to empower families in the care of their loved ones at home. However, Hospice Support also serves patients in assisted living facilities, nursing homes and hospitals. |
