HOW TO VOLUNTEER

How To Volunteer

How You Can Help

If you are interested in volunteering, Hospice Support offers many rewarding opportunities. Some volunteers work directly with patients and their families. Other volunteers assist with the loan closet or help the administrative staff with office duties such as mailings.

All of our Hospice Support volunteer teams begin with a group training program which includes explanation of hospice values, information on death and dying, family dynamics, listening and communication skills, patient care, and bereavement support. Volunteer classes are held quarterly; please call for current class dates.

There’s No Cost To You

All of Hospice Support’s services are offered to the community at no cost. We are funded solely by donations and grants. We receive no medical or other reimbursements.

If you would like to make a tax-deductible gift, you may send a check payable to: Hospice Support of Fauquier County, or come by our office in person. We would be happy to meet with you to discuss our services.

Hospice Support will protect the personal financial information that you share with us. If you make a donation online, PayPal will use your credit card number only to process your payment. For reasons of security, credit card information is not stored on our web servers. We will retain donation information for our records, but this information is never shared/sold to third parties.

Our organization solicits volunteers through churches, media advertising, our newsletters and website, and the new PATH Volunteer Connect service. A small percentage of the volunteers offer time for administrative types of service, like front desk or mailing activities. The bulk of the volunteers (55 currently) are used to support our services for hospice and advanced disease management patients and their families. There are 8 training sessions over 4 full days which cover A History of Hospice Support, Family Dynamics, Medical Hospice Care, Active Listening, Stages of Grief, Body Mechanics, and Funeral Rites and Services. Having completed the courses, volunteers are certified and matched to patients and families in homes and health facilities.

We are currently in need of hospice volunteers. Help our patients on their final journey. Call our office to get started.
